The event takes place at the Cue Sports Academy, Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi and is the last tournament of the WPBSA Q Tour Middle East series, with 36 players from 11 nations competing for the title.

Iran’s Amir Sarkhosh has won both of the events in the series so far, whitewashing Habib Humood in the final of the first event before coming from 3-0 down to defeat Mohamed Shehab 4-3 and secure back-to-back titles.

Sarkhosh is guaranteed to finish first in the Q Tour Middle East rankings regardless of what happens in event three and has therefore earned his place in the Global Q Tour Play-Off, which takes place in Bosnia & Herzegovina in March and will offer three World Snooker Tour cards.
